Film Reel 2024

For over a hundred years, drawings have been transformed into moving images, and from the very beginning, artistic animated films have played a significant role. Viking Eggeling, Lotte Reiniger, and Walter Ruttmann were already setting distinct standards in the 1920s of the last century.

For the FILM REEL 2024, Lines Fiction issued an open call, bringing together 116 artists and teams from around the world. Their films are each under 8 minutes long and broadly explore the concept of drawing. For the second time since 2022, FILM REEL presents a wide and vibrant cross-section of the artistic animation scene.
