abogar – people part I
2019

The experimental music video for the song People Part I melts granular textures of ink drawings and analogue video artefacts into a retro-futuristic hybrid as part of Robert Seidel’s ongoing series of video paintings. Brush gestures slither, unhinging the laws of nature and washing into unsteady perspectives, while their delicate abraded surfaces oscillate between fine-pored sculptures and destabilized veneer. Guided by the compositional structure of the song, the human traces and their overcompensatory displacements appear connected simultaneously to both relief and suffocation. Abogar’s song itself poses poetic realities as an ambiguous state of human consciousness. Field recordings, modular synthesizers and a prepared harpsichord were sonically sculpted into a fluctuating composition, amalgamated by a Spoken-word fragment.
